Please see the email chain below from OSHA Compliance Assistance Specialist Brian Crain with resources for planning your site’s National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls event during the week of May 2-6, 2022.

"Stand Down for FALLS!!!!

National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls is May 2-6, 2022

Resources for your stand-down are available at https://www.osha.gov/stop-falls-stand-down/#event

Anyone who wants to prevent hazards in the workplace can participate in the Stand-Down. In past years, participants included commercial construction companies of all sizes, residential construction contractors, sub- and independent contractors, highway construction companies, general industry employers, the U.S. Military, other government participants, unions, employer's trade associations, institutes, employee interest organizations, and safety equipment manufacturers.

Companies can conduct a Safety Stand-Down by taking a break to have a toolbox talk or another safety activity such as conducting safety equipment inspections, developing rescue plans, or discussing job specific hazards. Managers are encouraged to plan a stand-down that works best for their workplace anytime. See Suggestions to Prepare for a Successful "Stand-Down" and Highlights from the Past Stand-Downs.

The most important aspect of this stand-down is to focus on STOPPING these often preventable workplace Falls and the tragic losses of life and livelihood!!

Your event does not have to be the largest or most extravagant. It can be done in person or virtual. Remember the goal is to make a difference in your workforce’s safety and PREVENT FALLS!

OSHA is partnering with The Center for Construction Research and Training (CPWR) for this Stand-Down. CPWR is supplying hard-hat stickers to remind all to prevent fall hazards. Stickers may be ordered using https://stopconstructionfalls.com/online-ordering-form/ no later than April 22.

OSHA will also be using #StandDown4Safety to track social media throughput on the event. If you are social media savvy, this is a great way to extend our reach.

I am the Region 2, Regional Fall Stand-down coordinator, so please feel free to reach out with any questions. (Contact info available on VPPPA Region 2's website.)

So please join OSHA in our efforts to ensure the safety and health of all of our workers!!!"

Thank you VPPPA Region 2 for sharing!!
