"Yesterday marked the 40th anniversary of the chemical release in Bhopal, India (considered one of the world's worst industrial disasters). During the evening of December 2-3, 1984, a methyl isocyanate (MIC) leak killed thousands of residents in towns near the Union Carbide India Limited (UCIL) pesticide plant. This month’s Process Safety Beacon from AICHE’s Center for Chemical Process Safety (CCPS) addresses the hazards of stored chemicals (PDF file attached). Please consider sharing this information with your coworkers and contractors."
