The annual New York state burn ban is in effect from March 16 through May 14!

The annual New York state burn ban is in effect from March 16 through May 14. According to the Department of Environmental Conservation, open burning is the single greatest cause of wildfires in New York state. Since the spring burn ban was implemented in 2009, the number of wildfires has decreased by more than 40 percent. Open burning is prohibited in New York, with several exceptions. Guidelines are available from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation: https://on.ny.gov/3iehWWk
